The Internship Movie Plus Epic Movie

The Internship starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson Awesome movie!
Saturday night, I went to see The Internship. The theater was packed, but for some reason, very few people were in there to see this movie. I am glad I chose to see it. It lived up to my expectations of being Wedding Crashers for nerds. It was a hilarious movie, and the plot was actually pretty believable most of the time.

I mean, it is a comedy, but the plot is not too farfetched. Two down-on-their-luck salesmen, the same salesmen from Wedding Crashers, decide to apply for an internship at Google. That's right, Google. The Google. They then have to compete with many smart and talented interns for jobs at Google. The problem is they are just salesmen and know very little about computers or math or science... they are salesmen and have been salesmen their whole lives. The movie stars Vince Vaughn (who also wrote some of the script) and Owen Wilson amongst many other awesome actors and some actresses I care nothing about. Needless to say, the movie was excellent, but I question whether I would want to buy it or not. If the blu-ray copy comes with lots of nice bonus features, sure, I want it.
Epic posterBefore seeing The Internship, I saw Epic, which was actually not so epic at all (because everyone was so tiny), but it was pretty fun to watch all the amazing CG animation. I love CG movies. Even if the plot is boring, I usually find myself enjoying the visuals. Epic was pretty but did not rely solely on that. Epic was a nicely executed story with memorable characters and some clean, family-friendly humor. The plot never gets too detailed but gives you enough detail to know what's what, who likes who, and why they do what they do, aside from the villains, who just seem to hate life itself for no apparent reason. Without ruining the story for you, I have to convey that the villain ends up having more and more to be angry about as the plot thickens. If you think about it real hard, there may be a pun hidden in there somewhere.

Anyway, Epic is a good kiddy film that adults could enjoy for the animation quality alone.
Next week, I want to see the new Superman movie, Man of Steel. I am also tempted to see the new Star Trek: Into Darkness film, though its reviews make me think I should just wait for it to appear on FX or Netflix, whichever it appears on first. I am also waiting for The Hangover: Part 3 and This Is The End to be available for streaming (preferably on Amazon). I am hearing good things about After Earth, as well, but I am not interested enough in that movie's plot to watch it in the theater. I may rent it later, though.
Overall, I think this has been my favorite year for movies so far. I am a bit of a trekkie or trekker or whatever the term is nowadays, Iron man 3 is like the new Avengers movie for this year, and Man of Steel looks pretty nice and comes out on my birthday. What a gift! :D

Let's not forget about the awesome CG sequels, Monsters University and Despicable Me 2. Okay, Monsters University is a prequel. Anyway, so many movies are coming out that I am excited about. For that reason, I have started a new category on my blog for movies.
